Welcome to Willis!

Posted by kturk on April 10th, 2008

Just 40 miles North of Houston, the fourth largest city in the US, most people have never heard of Willis Texas. Many have passed through this tiny Texas town as they cruise up and down I-45. With many hidden features, Willis is worth exploring. The official population just under 4000, this small cozy community is big on family, fun and hometown friendliness!

Tucked away in Montgomery County, Willis offers wooded rolling hills, sprawling countryside, charming neighborhoods, top rated golf courses, shopping at many antique stores, boutiques and area malls. But mostly Willis offers a feeling of small town warmth. Oh yes, there is the lake. Tucked on the northeast corner of Lake Conroe, Willis features many neighborhoods and communities that are right on the water.

On any given day, you can enjoy watching many different kinds of boats on the lake. Each Wednesday evening from April till October, the Lake Conroe Sailing Association, holds a regatta on Lake Conroe. Open to all classes of sailboats, is is fun to watch (and sail in) this weekly event. You can find LCSA on the web at: http://www.lcsaonline.net/

High adventure types find that Lake Conroe has plenty of room to wake board, water ski, wake skate, para-sail, jet ski or whatever floats your boat. The man made lake has seven coves, it is over 17 miles long and stretches between 2 counties. Boats of all types are found on Lake Conroe.

If fishing is your thing, Lake Conroe is the place for you. Catfish, crappie, Bass are plentiful in the lake. With several different marinas and boat launches in Willis, access to the water is never far away. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has the most up to date information about fishing on the lake. Many hunters come to Willis looking for action. Big bucks and many doe are often spotted in the area year round. Ducks are plentiful. Visit the Sam Houston National Forrest website for more information: http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/texas/recreation/sam_houston/samhouston_gen_info.shtml

Hungry??? Willis is also home to some of the best food around. If you have a craving for Italian, Mexican, Texas Barbecue, Asian, Seafood or just good old Country Cooking, Willis has what you are looking for. With over 20+ different establishments in the Willis area, you are sure to find a great meal just minutes away! Want to combine both fine food and the peaceful waters? Try the Southern Empress. This riverboat cruises Lake Conroe several times a week offering great cuisine a memorable experience. For more information on any of these establishments please visit: http://lakeconroe.com/

Into Texas Music? The venues in and around the Willis area are wonderful. Whether you are looking for a quiet evening with a piano bar or a boot kicking good time, the options are unlimited. Sunset On Lake Conroe

Willis is also home to many employers, businesses and several manufacturing companies. Triflo International (http://www.triflo.com), STI Manufacturing (http://www.stimfg.com/), H and R Manufacturing (http://www.hrmfg.com/), R & R Manufacturing Company, Tisdale Company, CNM Manufacturing and Fence company (http://www.cnmfence.com/). Just to name a few.

The town of Willis has it’s own school district (WISD). With 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and one high school, WISD is large enough to offer a low student to teacher ratio but small enough to give attention to each and every child.

In addition, you can find over 40+ different churches in the Willis area.

I could go on and on. As a long time resident, I can truly say that Willis is a great place to live, work, play and raise a family!

Let me help you relocate to this delightful Texas Town!
